Posted by | Uncategorized | No Comments

Hey guys,

Catherine here, thought I better update everyone on what we have been busy planning!

Kiwi Tipi has a HUGE day planned for April 13, 2014:

We start our day as an exhibitor at The Great NZ Bridal Show which runs from 9.30 am till 4 pm at Addington Events Centre (75 Jack Hinton Dr)
“The Great New Zealand Bridal show is the largest wedding show in the South Island. Having helped thousands of brides to organise their perfect wedding day for over 20 years the Great NZ Bridal Show is a must day out for all brides, grooms and bridal parties. If you need ideas, want to meet with providers in person or are simply ready to organise your perfect day this is the must attend event of the year.”

Kiwi Tipi Rentals will be situated at stall #65 which is located in the Silks Room.
Tickets are $15 from the door – and with that many great deals and promotions all in the one place, why wouldn’t you?!

But what is even better about April 13, is we are ALSO hosting our very own OPEN DAY

You may have seen the invite and banner ad floating around social media but here they are again 🙂

A5 Invite

We have some really awesome people joining us in making this open day a complete tipi party experience.

Jane from Paper Love will be showing off her design talents (one example above!), Annika from Nectar Florist will be working with Sophie from Vintage & White to enhance the natural ambiance, with styling a number of tables to suit popular themes (this is going to be fantastic  for inspiration about the range of things you can do with the tipis for your event) and also husband/wife combo, Rochelle and Jeremy from Soul Reflections Photo + Video will be there giving advice and taking photos.

Hopefully we may get a few foodies to pop along too so RSVP here to stay up to date will all the latest details.

Lastly if your in Queenstown we will be down on the 6th July and visiting Ashburton on the 27th July, but more details on those closer to the time.

I can’t wait to meet all you tipi fans! It’s going to be awesome!!

New Year… New Beginnings…

Hey everyone, today marks the last day of January 2014 and Kiwi Tipi has been apart of some very special weddings this month. As we receive feedback and photos we will endeavour to share them with you all as soon as possible!

Lets start with Catherine & Joshua, who said their “I do’s” in our first wedding of 2014 on January 10th.

Although these two had already had everything for their wedding booked 18 months in advance, when Catherine found out about our tipis she knew she just had to have one as a part of her day. So we scouted out her reception venue (Lincoln Events Center) and got permission to put up a single tipi outside the hall to be used as a sun shelter for the breads n’ dip starter buffet and outdoor games (giant and original jenga, patonk, croquet and noughts v. crosses).

Due to the very last minute entry of the tipi into the wedding, the decorations were kept very simple with just two 20m blue LED fairy light strings dominating the roof space.

Catherine & Joshua also utilised our natural wooden bench seats and some old wooden outdoor furniture Catherine’s dad scored from Trade Me to compliment the tipi in its outdoor setting.

As the night closed in the tipi became the center stage in the couples final photos for the evening. The twinkling blue fairy lights and the setting sun glowing through the canvas provided the couple (and happy photographer) with a magical backdrop for this stunning photo by Heather Ellis Photography.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Barker, we loved being able to be a part of your big day.

“Enjoy every moment. The good, the bad, the beautiful, the ugly, the inspiring, the not-so-glamorous moments, and  thank God through it all.” – Meghan Matt

We wish you all the best for your lives together, from the Kiwi Tipi team

Hey Hayden, thank you so much for your help in our last minute desire to have one of your amazing tipis at our wedding. We had heaps of great compliments on it, as it was like nothing anyone had seen before. It created quite the buzz and will be a feature talking point in people’s memories for years to come. It was fantastic to be able to create another (completely unique) space the guests could go, hang out, eat and play a few games in, and not feel cramped and confined into the hall. All the best – Catherine & Joshua.

Coming soon to Kiwi Tipi Rentals

Starting this business from scratch creates an exciting opportunity for me to both build and help build through friends and family to make products that will hopefully make your tipi experience more unique. Idea’s yet to be manufactured are as follows:

Pizza Oven

One of my close friends Tim Valentine owns and operates his own brick laying business, Brickart. One of his skills is building customized pizza ovens and we intend to build a mobile pizza. So imagine the following day after your event your friends and family are still around and you light up the pizza oven and all make and cook your own pizzas, or light it up later on as late night supper, keeping your guests charged to keep the party going.

Hand Crafted Bar

Understanding every good party has a good bar. Through the help of ideas from some of the bars and mobile bars I’ve seen from around the world.  I look forward to designing and building a customized bar to be both practical and functional for Kiwi Tipi Rentals.

Tables and Benches

Using some locally sourced wood, maybe recycled from buildings within Christchurch c will be putting together some funky wooden tables, benches and chairs.

Fireplace with Interchangeable Water Feature

Should your event be in the middle of summer or if you’d rather not the hassle of the firewood for the fireplace which is available now maybe you’d prefer a small water feature within your event? Once designed and built pictures will be available.

Luxury trailer toilets

Lifting the standard of portable toilets Kiwi Tipi Rentals will be introducing a trailer with flushing toilets and running water inside.

Dance floor

For all those first dances and break dancers out there we’ll soon be able to offer a dance floor like no other. We can’t unfortunately offer dance lessons or promise you that you’ll dance better on it!

Where it all started…

Posted by | Uncategorized | No Comments

I first laid eyes on the brand Tentipi at an outdoor exhibition in Perth, Scotland. Where a distributor of their camping range tipis had one up on display….. well, I just had to have one! About a year later I purchased my first tipi and I just so happened to be in between flats at the time. So I decided to live in my very own canvas castle on my friends lifestyle block, just east of Edinburgh.

After discovering Tentipi’s event range of tipis my good friend Shona then decided to utilize their lifestyle block of land and host her wedding in three giant Nordic tipis. A few days before Mark and Shona’s big day the crew came and set up their wedding venue right on my front door, whilst I watched the poles go up and the canvas get pulled over I started pondering on the idea of whether or not these magnificent structures had found their way to NZ yet.

They got married the 30 July 2011 and I’m very excited and happy to say that two years later I can welcome two giant Nordic tipis to our shores!
